Work for welfare of SCs, NCSC member tells officials
National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) member PM Kamalamma on Wednesday called upon the officials to work with dedication for the welfare of SCs and ensure social justice to them. The SC Commission member held a review meeting with the officials of various departments at the Collectorate here on cases of atrocities, revenue issues and particulars of SC Sub-Plan beneficiaries from 2009 to 2014.
Nalgonda: National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) member PM Kamalamma on Wednesday called upon the officials to work with dedication for the welfare of SCs and ensure social justice to them. The SC Commission member held a review meeting with the officials of various departments at the Collectorate here on cases of atrocities, revenue issues and particulars of SC Sub-Plan beneficiaries from 2009 to 2014.
Kamalamma said that the State and the Central governments launched several welfare schemes for the uplift of SCs and it was the responsibility of the officials to implement the GOs regarding the schemes and ensure that the benefits reach the SCs. She underlined the need to educate the people on the laws promulgated against untouchability and attacks on SCs. She suggested the officials to organise Civil Rights Day in those villages where attacks on SCs were reported.
She instructed District Collector P Satyanarayana Reddy to display the portraits of BR Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram in all the government offices. She asked the officials to spend the SC Sub-Plan funds by the end of the financial year. Drinking water facility and Anganwadi centres should be set up in all the SC habitations, she added.
