Auto drivers ask KCR to fulfil poll promises
Auto drivers on Thursday organised a dharna at Transport Bhavan, Khairatabad here demanding the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to fulfil all the remaining promises made to them during the time of Assembly elections. Mohd Amanullah Khan, B Venkatesam and V Kiran, leaders of Auto Driver Unions JAC, while addressing the auto drivers on the occasion, said among the promises made by the Chief Minister, only one promise, namely,

Hyderabad: Auto drivers on Thursday organised a dharna at Transport Bhavan, Khairatabad here demanding the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to fulfil all the remaining promises made to them during the time of Assembly elections. Mohd Amanullah Khan, B Venkatesam and V Kiran, leaders of Auto Driver Unions JAC, while addressing the auto drivers on the occasion, said among the promises made by the Chief Minister, only one promise, namely, exemption of Motor Vehicle Tax on autos was only fulfilled.
However, remaining promises such as stoppage of RTA (Regional Transport Authority) and police harassment, issue of driving licence to drivers who have not passed 8th class, allotment of auto stands and providing of accident and health insurance schemes are yet to be fulfiled.
The dharna continued for about an hour with the drivers raising slogans. At the end of the dharna programme, a 15-member delegation met the Transport Commissioner Sandeep Kumar Sultania and presented a memorandum. The official assured the delegation that he would look into their grievances sympathetically. The delegation stressed upon the commissioner to cancel GO Ms No 108 empowering RTA and traffic police to collect Rs 1,000 minimum fine for each traffic violation.
