Dr RBN Prasad, Chief Scientist and Head of Lipid Science and Technology of CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), Hyderabad has bagged VASVIK award in Chemical Sciences. The award was presented by the Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Power and Coal, Piyush Goyal, at a function in Mumbai recently, said the institute in a press release on Friday.

Hyderabad: Dr RBN Prasad, Chief Scientist and Head of Lipid Science and Technology of CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), Hyderabad has bagged VASVIK award in Chemical Sciences. The award was presented by the Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Power and Coal, Piyush Goyal, at a function in Mumbai recently, said the institute in a press release on Friday.

VASVIK Industrial Research Award is an annual award presented to senior researchers for their outstanding contributions to the advancement of science and technology. Prasad was selected for this award for making significant contributions in the area of lipid science and technology.

His developed the enzymatic degumming process for the production of high quality rice bran oil by retaining all the nutritional components, the release noted. Due to Prasad’s efforts, IICT has established centre for lipid research with state of art facilities for carrying out innovative research in the area of oils and fats with international standards, the release said.
