Tummala, Kadiyam betrayers, KTR kid in politics: Shabbir Ali

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader from Telangana Md Ali Shabbir on Monday dubbed Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari as betrayers of Telangana.

Talking to media after submitting a memorandum to State Human Rights Commission against the ‘attack’ on Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Ponnala Lakshmaiah during the Congress padyatara on February 7 in protest against the proposed shifting of Chest Hospital and State Secretariat, Shabbir Ali criticised Tummala for faulting the motives of the padayatra.

He said Tummala had opposed statehood to Telangana when he was in Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Tummala and Kadiam were opportunists and had joined the TRS for political gains, he alleged.

Reacting to the criticism of padayatra by IT Minister KT Rama Rao, Shabbir said Rama Rao was a ‘kid’ in politics. He said people would soon show the real trailer to TRS government against its ‘anti-people’ policies. Shabbir also advised police officials not to act as agents of the ruling party. Those present included former minister Danam Nagender, Rajya Sabha member MA Khan, former MP M Anjan Kumar Yadav and other leaders who met the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) chairman and sought action against the officials responsible for the attack on Ponnala Lakshmaiah. Subsequently, the SHRC has directed the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police to probe into the matter by an Additional DGP and submit a report by February 23.
