On Saturday, Y Veera Raju, additional chief metropolitan magistrate of Hyderabad allowed the CBI plea and gave the agency custody of Vinayaka Ravi Reddy and T Venkatram Reddy, the two arrested promoters of Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd, for five days from February 23 to 27.


For questioning the two accused in the case of fraud of Rs 357 crore by Canara Bank, the CBI has sought 14 days. Certain conditions were imposed by the judge that the accused should be taken to CBI office from jail at 10 am everyday and sent back to Chanchalguda jail by 5 pm.


According to the counsel for the accused, Arcot Chandrasekhar, the judge gave a specific direction to the CBI not to subject the accused to any third degree during interrogation and should be done in the presence of the lawyers of the accused.
