Hyderabad: Salaries of Anganwadi workers and helpers will be hiked in Telangana, said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday.Interacting with Anganwadi workers at the Secretariat here, the Chief Minister announced that all Anganwadi workers and helpers would get increased salaries from March onwards. Chandrashekar Rao promised to develop Anganwadi centres as ideal ones and ensure supply of drinking waters through village panchayats and municipalities besides providing them with life insurance facility.He also agreed to provide timely salaries to them.

Chandrashekar Rao announced that the government would make sure of timely distribution of Aasara pensions and food security cards. Services of the Anganwadi workers will be utilised in KG to PG scheme and supervisors will be appointed for strengthening Anganwadis in the State. “These centres are playing a key role in educating and moulding students for better future,” the Chief Minister said. Stating that Anganwadi workers were his sisters,Chandrashekar Rao promised to protect their interests and provide equal respect in the society.

“The government will not tolerate any harassment and corruption practices,” he warned. Chandrashekar Rao suggested them to complaint to him if anyone asked bribe in recruitment or harassed the workers.He also urged them to propagate welfare and health schemes like Kalyan Lakshmi and Swatch Bharath.
