Komatireddy urges govt to release NS water

Hyderabad: Congress MLA from Nalgonda Komaritreddy Venkata Reddy on Tuesday met Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and demanded that water be released from Nagarjunasagar to save crops in Nalgonda district. Speaking to media persons after meeting the Minister, Venkat Reddy said water should be released from Nagarjunasagar left canal for Madhav Reddy project to save crops. He said the Minister had given necessary directions to the officials to take action. He also appealed to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to postpone the plans to construct new Secretariat at Erragadda and instead utilise the funds to fulfill the election-eve promise of crop loan waiver. He said the State government had already cleared first installment of 25 per cent towards the scheme and the remaining 75 per cent amount should also be cleared at the earliest, he said.
