KTR distributes pensions to beedi workers in Sircilla
Panchayat Raj and IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao launched the distribution of pensions for beedi workers at a programme here on Wednesday. Deputy Speaker M Padma Devender Reddy participated in the programme along with the Minister.

Addressing the gathering, he said that the Telangana government fulfilled its poll promise of sanctioning monthly pensions to beedi workers. He said that large number of beedi workers in the districts of Karimnagar, Medak and Nizamabad would benefit with the monthly pension scheme. He pointed out that no state government in India except TRS government was implementing monthly pension for beedi workers.
The Minister reminded that the Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya had assured to upgrade ESI hospital from 50 beds to 100 beds at Sircilla. He stated that the government had waived Rs 5.65 crore worth of loans taken by weavers.
