Additional revenue of Rs 2,175 crore was earned by the SCR during the said period. The gross originating earnings of SCR from freight and passenger transport stood at Rs 11,764 crore during the 2014-15 period.

Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) has recorded 23 per cent increase in its gross earnings during April, 2014 and February, 2015 fiscal period. Additional revenue of Rs 2,175 crore was earned by the SCR during the said period. The gross originating earnings of SCR from freight and passenger transport stood at Rs 11,764 crore during the 2014-15 period.

The freight earnings till the end of February, 2015 grew to Rs 8,438.4 crore, which is 26 per cent higher as compared to Rs 6,708 crore from last year. During the reporting period, freight earnings constituted around 72 per cent of the gross earnings of the Zone. The increase in earnings to a great extent is contributed to the cumulative loading at Krishnapatnam Port which has gone up to 19 MT, registering 50 per cent increase when compared to the loading during last year. Cumulative loading at Kakinada Port also registered 32 per cent increase (5.5 MT to 7.2 MT).
