Hyderabad: The Telangana State Government has taken a decision to complete Palamur Lift Irrigation scheme and Nakkalagandi project in the backward Mahbubnagar district soon, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender said.Presenting the 2015-16 budget in the Assembly on Wednesday, Eatala said the government will pump adequate funds to expeditiously complete these two projects.

On completion, the barren lands of backward district would get back their greenery and there would be rise in production of agricultural yield. The successive governments had neglected the district, he alleged. Now, the TRS Government decided to cater to the irrigation needs of Mahbubnagar district, he stated. To keep the promise of making Telangana a power surplus State, steps have been taken, he said. For this, efforts are being made to make a thorough overhaul of the energy sector with Rs 7,400 cr allocation. This will help production of power and make the state energy surplus by 2018, he said.

He further said that the focus of the budget is on strengthening education and health sectors and hence he had allocated Rs 11,216 crore and 4,932 crore respectively. He said adequate funds will also be given to education to ensure quality education among the students of government schools and colleges. “Our flagship project of KG to PG will begin this academic year and the government will not go back on its promise,” he said. In a similar way, efforts are being made to augment the health sector and government hospitals will provide better services to the people, the finance minister added. The government hiked the salaries of Anganwadi workers and helpers to Rs 7,000 and Rs 4,500 respectively.
