Sell alcohol despite the Election Commission orders

Mahabubnagar: Traders are selling liquor for the last two days in violation of the Prohibition and Excise department officials orders not to sell liquor for three days till Sunday in view of elections for the Mahabubnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad Graduates’s constituency. They were able to sell liquor as the officials looked the other way.

There are four shops in the Kothakota mandal centre of Mahabubnagar district. Media persons allegedly own some shops. Hence, the traders are confident of not facing any action despite violating the election code.

Offices of the Excise and police departments are located in Kothakota, but no official is objecting to the ongoing brisk liquor sale. Local residents expressed anguish over the liquor sales. They are demanding action against the traders and liquor shops for their “illegal” sales.
