Burden of `2.83 cr on middle-class families in Karimnagar dist.Due to the hike in power tariff announced recently by the Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission, there is going to be a burden of Rs 2.83 crore per month on middle-class families and industries in Karimnagar district.

Karimnagar: Due to the hike in power tariff announced recently by the Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission, there is going to be a burden of Rs 2.83 crore per month on middle-class families and industries in Karimnagar district.After the formation of new State of Telangana, it is the first hike announced in power tariff. This hike in power tariff will be implemented from April 1.
The number of consumers in the district who are consuming 50 to 500 units per month are 3,19,631. Out of these consumers, more than half are consuming above 200 units. On these consumers, the burden is going to be nearly Rs 1.83 crore.From the power consumers of various categories in the district, at present the district is getting Rs 60 crore to Rs 65 crore (of revenue). The revenue earned by the electricity department would increase with the hike in power tariff.
