Hyderabad: The Joint Action Campaign Committee for Implementation of Model Right to Education (RTE) Act in Telangana State, organised a solidarity meeting of political parties, civil society organisation and academics to demand immediate implementation of provision of 25 per cent free admissions to poor students in private schools at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park, Hyderabad.

Telangana JAC Convener Prof. Kodanda Ram, ex-MP Azeez Pasha, TRS MLC Karne Prabhakar, CPM State Secretary T. Veerabhadram, Lok Satta Telangana President B Rammohan Rao, AAP State Secretary Venkat Reddy, BJP Mazdoor Morcha State Secretary Y Suresh Kumar, Hamid Mohammad Khan of Welfare Party of India, MBT leader Amjadullah Khan Khalid, NGOs and many representatives of civil society, academics and activists participated and declared their solidarity with the cause and assured full support in the struggle to secure 25 per cent free Admissions to poor students in private schools as per Sec 12 (1)(c) of RTE Act 2009.

While passing a resolution, demanding implementation of RTE, they urged the Telangana Government to bring about all required and suitable amendments in the rules notified by the erstwhile Government of AP vide GO.Ms.No.14 sdated: 22. 02.2011, found to be inadequate and ineffective in ensuring the implementation of the provisions of free admissions to poor students in private schools and prepare revised rules and notify them by or before mid May 2015.

They asked the government to direct all concerned officials and schools to ensure that the Provisions of the Act are fully complied with and implemented from the new academic year to commence from June 2015. It was also resolved that a delegation will meet the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister and Principal Secretary Education to present a representation on the subject and demand immediate implementation of the RTE Act in Telangana State.
