Women leaders of opposition parties call on Governor, complain against KCR

Hyderabad: The women leaders of all opposition parties, on Wednesday, complained to the Governor against Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao over not inducting women legislators in the Telangana cabinet. Telangana Telugu Desam Mahila wing president B Shobharani, State Women Congress president A Lalitha, BJP spokesperson P Karuna and Telugu Mahila Lok Satta president Gajanani met Governor E S L Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum demanding to ensure gender equality in the allocation of posts in Telangana cabinet.

The delegation alleged that KCR was indifferent towards women in giving ministerial posts and other portfolios in the government. They also brought to the notice of the Governor the meagre allocations for women development in 2015-16 budget. The leaders pointed out that the DWCRA groups, run by women, were left in lurch with no specific funds for their development this year. KCR made a poll promise that bank loan for the self help groups would be increased to Rs 10 lakh from Rs 5 lakh but no steps were taken towards this end, they said.
