Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party has embarked upon a massive exercise and is working out a two-pronged strategy to emerge as a powerful political force in Telangana by 2019 elections. According to party insiders, the party has even decided to launch Operation Akarsh and attract important disgruntled leaders from the Congress and TRS.According to top party leaders, the TDP will continue to sail with the BJP and will work out an action plan in such a way that both the TDP and BJP would become the main Opposition for the TRS in 2019 elections.
The sources said Chandrababu Naidu has asked the Telangana leaders to identify potential and important leaders from Congress and TRS and bring them into the party fold. If necessary, the party would help such leaders by giving some financial assistance so that they can focus attention on strengthening the party which had suffered a setback during the past few years in Telangana. Naidu is said to have told the rank and file to take care that there was no clash of interest between the BJP and TDP on the leaders who could be taken into party fold.
A senior party leader said Naidu was already in touch with many Congress leaders in North Telangana and TRS leaders in South Telangana. It is learnt that Naidu would start inviting important leaders of other parties into the TDP from 2015 December. Following the success of the recent public meetings held at Warangal and Karimnagar where the TRS had swept the Assembly polls, Naidu has asked the party leaders to organise similar meetings across the state starting from April 23.
On the other hand, the ‘Young Boss’ Nara Lokesh has been asked to visit all the Telangana districts from May. In order to send a message that the TDP believes that all Telugu speaking people are equal for the party, Naidu has also decided to accommodate two TDP and one BJP MLA from Telangana in the TTD board. “Soon you will see how TDP would bounce back with renewed vigour in Telangana,” an important leader in the party told The Hans India.
