Mahbubnagar: With an intention to boost the morale of TDP cadres in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister on Thursday reiterated that he was the first one to have supported the demand for separate Telangana. Addressing the TDP’s public meeting here on Thursday, Chandrababu Naidu stated that despite enormous pressure on him, he had backed the division by submitting a letter to the Centre. Naidu recalled that during the State bifurcation he wanted justice be done to the two States.
- Recalls that he wrote first letter to Centre for bifurcation
- Lists out how TDP developed Telangana
- Will work with KCR for TS development
The two previous meetings Naidu addressed were in Warangal and Karimnagar districts. Without naming the TRS, Naidu asserted that no force could stop the TDP since it has a strong cadre in the region. “Many attempts had been made to weaken the party, but Telugus backed it for 35 years as it gave a pride of place to the poor. If one or two leaders leave TDP, it has the power to create 100 leaders,” he said.
Naidu claimed that not only Mahbubnagar district but entire Telangana has been developed in all sectors during the TDP regime, including the period when NTR headed the government. “I can never forget Mahbubnagar district in my life. I am indebted to party activists in the district,” he said.
He remarked that before TDP’s emergence, there was no development in Telangana. Thanks to the TDP that Hyderabad is a developed city now and the Telangana government has surplus budget. Naidu stated that the TDP would continue to work for the speedy development of Telangana. The party would be made a national outfit and contest elections in four to five States in the 2019 poll.
The TDP chief claimed credit for students of Telangana making a beeline to the US. Naidu said he was treating both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as equals and called for the Telugus to work in unity. During his frequent trips to Delhi, he had been demanding for equal development of the two States.
