Were the reports about Viqaruddin encounter in Nalgonda sent by Telangana Government to a wrong address? The NHRC on Friday reprimanded the Telangana Government and police for not filing reports of the incident of allegedly killing suspected SIMI under trials in a police van on April 7 near Hyderabad.

The commission was taken aback and baffled during the public hearing on Thursday when Navin Chand IG (Warangal) of the Telangana government informed the commission that the reports were sent to them which was found to be an old NHRC address at Delhi.

The truth about the delay in filing reports came out when the NHRC Registrar AK Garg wanted an explanation from the Telangana police official as to why reports were not submitted yet and was baffled with the reply that they were sent to a Delhi address. It appeared that the Telangana government had sent the reports to the old address of NHRC in New Delhi, while the NHRC has moved to the current address at GPO Complex, INA.
