A family from Hanamkonda stranded in quake-ravaged  Kathmandu ( (File Photo)Warangal: The family members of on eR Kumar of Hanamkonda, who was staying in Nepal, were worried over his safety.Kumar, who hails from Bokkalagadda area in Hanamkonda, was staying in Nepal for the past two months working for a private telecom firm near Kathmandu.

According to his mother Lakshmi and brother Rajender, Kumar called them on Saturday soon after the earthquake and later the phone was disconnected.During the morning hours of Sunday they were able to communicate for a brief period during which Kumar explained the sad state of affairs.

Since the tremors were occurring repeatedly they were forced to stay outdoors in a school ground he reportedly told his family members. Kumar informed his family members that he along with his wife Chetana and son Nitin went to Kathmandu airport but the rescue flights from India were called off following fresh tremors.

“We appeal to the State government to ensure safe return of my son and his family,” said Lakshmi weeping at the predicament of her son. Kumar’s brother Rajender informed that the details of his brother were passed on to the local MLA D Vinay Bhasker who assured all required help.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that a few students ,who were studying at Bharathpur Medical College, were also caught up in Kathmandu. Efforts were being made to ascertain their identity and their safety.
