Women corporators stall proceedings

Karimnagar: Members of Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, on Wednesday, staged demonstration protesting against the register of police case against a woman member and rushed to the podium and stalled proceedings. Actually, a case was registered against Kalavathi, 22nd division corporator, for stalling the illegal encroachments by the local leaders. As soon as a special budget session of KMC began under the chair of corporation chairman Ravinder Singh at meeting hall, here on Wednesday, women corporators rushed to the podium and stalled the proceedings.
Other corporators irrespective of gender and party affiliation also joined the protest demonstration. They withdrew their agitation after the officials assured to look into the matter. KMC corporation has presented Rs 130 crore budget for the year 2015-16. Corporation has proposed to allocate Rs 116 crores for various programmes including Rs 12 crore for public health and sanitation, Rs 9 crore for water supply, Rs 5 crore for street lights and others.
