The Chief Minister unveiled the 70-feet pylon of Drinking Water Grid at Choutuppal and laid foundation stone for the 4000 MW ultra mega thermal power plant at Veerlapalem of Damaracharla mandal. Later, speaking at a public meeting organised in NG College ground in Nalgonda, the Chief Minister announced water schemes to provide drinking water and irrigation facility to all areas in the district.
Rao said that he gets satisfied when he initiates major projects which aim to supply drinking water to every household and to ensure uninterrupted power supply. Nalgonda become a launch-pad for these two big projects costing Rs 1.3 lakh crore, he said. Reminding that he has toured for eight days in fluoride-affected areas of Nalgonda in the past, KCR said that he was moved by the pathetic condition of the fluoride victims and had even penned a song on their problems.
The Chief Minister announced that the state government would issue a GO in a couple of days sanctioning a water scheme with a budget of Rs 6000 crore under which water from Srisailam project would be brought to Munugodu and Devarakonda areas through a single lift. Rao said he would lay foundation stone for the scheme on June 12 in the district.
KCR said that through Komurelli Mallana Project in Medak district, Godavari water would be brought to Aleru and Bhongir area, which have been facing severe drinking water and irrigation problems. Once, SLBC tunnel was completed, water from the project would be supplied to Suryapet and Thungathurty areas, he added.
Pledging to solve fluoride problem, the Chief Minister promised to turn their dreams into a reality. Speaking earlier, IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao said that under water grid scheme, 1.5 lakh km of pipeline would be laid in the state to give water connection to every household in four years. Water would be drawn from 17 points from Krishna and Godavari rivers for the purpose, he added.
