Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government which had abandoned earlier projects taken up during the YSR government was trying to fill the pockets of the same contractors, who were involved in Jalayagnam scam.

Speaking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan here, TDP senior leader Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy questioned the State government’s intention in series of revisions in the estimations of the projects, being undertaken in the name of beautification of Hussainsagar, Water Grid and Mission Kakatiya.

He said the government had unilaterally constituted committees and going on revising the estimates, now projected to be at Rs 45,000 crore for works. In addition to this, under ‘contractor obligation’, the government was trying to fill the pockets of contractors with an additional amount of Rs 3,000 crore.

He alleged that even the procurement for projects was done under engineer-politician-contractor nexus. “The project designs are tailor-made to suite the contractors, so that they can milk more in the garb of works,” he alleged.
