Nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson’s petition was dismissed by the Hyderabad High Court on Monday. The petition sought disqualifying of Justice B. Siva Shankar Rao from hearing the petition of Jerusalem Mathaiah for nullifying criminal cases in the cash-for-vote scam case.

Nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson’s petition was dismissed by the Hyderabad High Court on Monday. The petition sought disqualifying of Justice B. Siva Shankar Rao from hearing the petition of Jerusalem Mathaiah for nullifying criminal cases in the cash-for-vote scam case.


Justice Shankar Rao further held the petitioner liable to be punished for criminal contempt of court while dismissing Mr Stephenson’s plea and also directed the Registry to issue contempt proceedings under Section 14 of the Contempt of Courts Act against the MLA.


Justice Shankar Rao directed the Registry to start proceedings and if required, take permission from the Chief Justice.
