Nalgonda: The negligence on the part of the Revenue officials in issuing income, caste and residence certificates has led to denial in renewal of scholarships for large number of students in the district as the last date for receiving applications came to an end on Tuesday.

On the final day, students and their parents, who failed to get the certificates, were seen waiting at the Mandal Revenue offices. The students were required to pay required fee through Mee Seva Centres and then secure the signatures of Village Revenue Officer and Revenue Inspector concerned on the certificates.

Once the MRO office uploaded the certificates, the Mee Seva Centres would download them and distributed printouts of the certificates to the students. Kandikanti Saidulu, a B.A. second year student of Government Degree College of Nakrekal, said he had paid the fee at the Mee Seva Centre and went round the Nakrekal MRO officer to get the signatures of VRO and RI for issuance of income and residential certificates for the last 20 days, but in vain.

He lamented that his scholarship would not be renewed unless the last date for receiving applications was extended by the government. Vanguri Nagesh, father of a degree college student Puja and resident of Chandampally village said he was going daily to Nakrekal MROoffice for the last three days as his daughter had applied for residence certificate for renewal of scholarship. But, the officials had failed to issue the certificate.

When contacted, the Deputy Tahsildar of Nakrekal Sangamithra said the VROs of some villages were busy, making arrangements for Haitha Haaram programme.
