Hyderabad: The PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad on Monday took serious view of a custodial death and sought the intervention of the Principal Secretary (Home) of the Telangana state, if need be. The bench of acting Chief Justice Dilip Bhosale and Justice SV Bhatt is dealing with a writ plea filed by Citizen Forum for Equity and Justice over the failure of the authorities to take action in the case of the lock-up death of Shaik Hyder in a police station in Nizamabad and wanted a direction to suspend the responsible police personnel.

The inaction, the Forum contended was illegal, arbitrary, unjust and unconstitutional and consequently sought a direction to the authorities to enquire into the matter and to take immediate action against the responsible police personnel of the concerned police station and to punish them in accordance with Law.

The victim was involved in a cycle theft case and according to the official version was making an attempt to escape from custody when the incident occurred. The bench said that it was not satisfied with the response of the government and wanted further details in the matter. The bench accordingly adjourned the matter by one week.
