Hyderabad: Viplava Rachayithala Sangham (Virasam) is holding its 45th foundation day at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram here on July 12. Issues like “Make in India, saffronisation, Land Acquisition Bill, Political and Economic Agendas of Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh governments, and the role of writers, will be deli erated at the meeting.

Announcing this at a media meet on Friday after releasing the poster and pamphlet relating to the day-long conference, Virasam senior members Varavara Rao, Ravichandra, Geethanjali, Rivera and others said it was high time that writers decided whether they are with the ruling class or with the people.

Varavara Rao said there was an “encounter” on June 12 on the Warangal-Chhattisgarh border and two young Adivasi women, Madakam Jogi, Madakam Deve and Vivek, who was pursuing his Law degree in Hyderabad, were killed. Rao said this year marked the end of the original fascism 70 years ago.

He alleged that now, India was ruled by those who followed the ideology of Hitler. The Chief Ministers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State were clamping down on democratic movements and repressing people. The two governments were keeping the people in a state of insecurity to facilitate continuance of their exploitative rule.

The Andhra Pradesh government, which remained mired neck-deep in corruption, was trying to divert the attention by raking up issues like Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation At. The one year rule of K Chandrashekara Rao proved that he was more interested in protecting the interests of capitalists. Both the Chief Ministers were provoking the passions of people.
