Hyderabad: As many as three crore people from Telangana and other states have taken holy dip in 106 Godavari pushkar ghats across the State including 65 lakh of people in 11 places of Nizamabad district till Thursday, tenth day of Godavari Pushkaralu, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said.

Speaking to press persons at Kandakurthi – a sacred place of “Triveni Sangamam” in Nizamabad district, he said that special arrangements are made for bathing despite there is no flood waters here. The people can get rid of from the sins by taking a holy dip in this place, he remarked. Pushkaralu will culminate on July 25 Saturday and we expect more people to throng these ghats, he said adding that drinking water, power supply, better roads and hygienic conditions are provided.

The minister maintained that at the directive of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao the official machinery is able to conduct the pushkar festivities effectively. KCR appointed a special officer for arrangements at each pushkar ghat and the devotees are able to get immediate darshan of the deity after taking a holy dip.

Expressing shock over the deaths in a road mishap near Pochampadu, he appealed to the people to avoid speed drive to protect their lives and reach pushkar ghats to complete the rituals. The minister said that adequate funds are being spent for the festivities and wheel chairs were provided for physically disabled and special buses for elderly persons to reach the ghats.

“ We are able to see happiness on the faces of the people coming for pushkaralu, he maintained. Srinivas Reddy also stated that those coming from Rajahmundry, Srikakulam, Nellore and other states expressed content that the arrangements in Telangana pushkar ghats are far better than Andhra Pradesh.

He appreciated the officials for efficient coordination to ensure that the devotees take holy dip in a hassle-free manner and have the darshan of presiding deities on the banks of the rivers near the pushkar ghats.
