Hyderabad: The Congress leaders were arrested on Wednesday when they staged a protest in front of the State Assembly. The leaders resorted to agitation after they were barred from staging a protest at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the Assembly premises.

Sporting black badges and covering their mouths with black ribbons, they tried to enter the Assembly premises, but the security personnel blocked them Lok Sabha member Gutha Sukhender Reddy, former MPs G Vivek, P Balram Naik, M Anjan Kumar Yadav, Ponnam Prabhakar, MLC Farooq Hussain and others held a demonstration outside the Assembly.

They shouted slogans against the BJP-led NDA government for suspending 23 MPs in an “undemocratic fashion” by the Lok Sabha Speaker. The leaders demanded sacking of the Union Minister, Sushma Swaraj, Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan for their involvement in scams.
