Nalgonda: A woman reportedly died due to Dengue on Sunday while undergoing treatment at Care Hospital in Hyderabad. Perala Sravanthi (26), resident of Gattikallu village of Atmakur mandal, was suffering with high fever and shifted to Care hospital in Hyderabad when her health worsened a week ago.

Khammam: Dengue, which claimed many lives last year, has once again started creating panic, with a number of cases being reported in various parts of Khammam district, especially in the Agency areas.

Heavy rains have been lashing many parts of the district since the last four days. Several people are suffering with seasonal diseases, especially with dengue and malaria. A record number of 52 dengue cases have been reported till Sunday.

The officials have alerted the people and requested them to fill the water-filled ditches with soil near their houses and in surroundings, which are the breeding places for mosquitoes. More than half-a-dozen deaths occurred due to dengue fever, but officials confirmed only a couple of deaths.

A four-year-old girl Tejaswi died on Sunday due to dengue fever in Samithi Singaram village of Manuguru mandal. Her father Narasimha Rao was also suffering from Malaria fever. “The bite of female mosquito, called Aedes, causes dengue fever. This mosquito bites during day time.

Special precautions like wearing full sleeves shirts, trousers and socks will protect from mosquito bites,” Dr. Venkateshwarlu told The Hans India. Symptoms associated with dengue fever also could be seen in viral and malarial fevers, such as decrease in red blood platelets and bleeding, which makes it difficult to diagnose correctly.

Certain private hospitals were creating panic among the patients instead of conducting Elisa test, which confirms dengue case as positive. Panic stricken patients were rushing to corporate hospitals in Khammam town and even to Hyderabad for better treatment. The District Medical and Health Officer, Dr Bhanu Prakash, said so far about 52 members have been identified as suffering from dengue fever in the district.

Along with the dengue testing centre in Khammam, two more centres are established in the Area hospitals at Bhadrachalam and Kothagudem. If the patients have any doubts of that they were inflicted with dengue fever, must go for Elisa Test in the dengue testing centres for confirmation. If the tests result shows positive, then the patient will be given complete treatment in the government hospitals, he added.
