New Delhi: Telangana State Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari here on Wednesday said the State government was committed to the implementation of the ‘KG to PG’ promise and the delay was only due to its earnest desire to seek a smooth operational method.

Minister Srihari, who was here to attend a national meet on Education called for by the Human Resources Ministry, said an understanding to divide the scheme into three components was already arrived at. The first one of these would be from Class I to V, the second one was from Class V to XII and the third was the onward study.

Every school and college of the government would be utilised and teaching capacity would be enhanced along with strengthening the core capacity of skill imparting under this programme, he said. The government was committed to improve the quality of education, particularly that of the girl child and every care was being taken to raise the bar, the Minister said. Srihari said the government was even contemplating ‘pick-up and drop’ scheme for the primary students.

While the primary education would focus on 'tender-teaching methods’ basic computations, basic language skills (primarily speaking skills) and introducing the children to the new knowledge that became essential now like environmental awareness etc. A special emphasis would be laid on the girl child and the gurukul system would be further fortified. Safety, security and education would be the hallmarks of the system.

The government was also worried about negative and unwarranted tendencies like ragging that were more prevalent in the neighbouring states and would deal with the same with proper approaches keeping in mind the impressionable age of the teenagers, he said. He said the Centre complimented the State government for constructing toilets for girls in all the schools.
