Hyderabad: Launching a scathing attack on the ruling TRS government, Telangana TDP leaders on Wednesday alleged that the State government was not serious on the illegal projects being constructed on Almatti dam by Karnataka government.

  • Leaders decry the design change of Pranahita-Chevella project

Though Telugu Desam Party has raised the issue of illegal projects being built by Karnataka government, TRS government was indulging in levelling allegations against TDP and its Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao was talking in a meaningless manner, felt the yellow party leaders.

Speaking at a joint press conference, TDP leaders Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Arkela Narsi Reddy and Prakash Goud alleged that the TRS leaders who went to visit under-construction project of Karnataka used filthy language against their part supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu, which was condemnable.

Errabelli said Karnataka government had already allocated Rs 1,500 crore for increasing the height of Almatti from 519 to 524 metres. It also issued a notification for acquiring 1.25 lakh acres of land for the project and even evacuated people in surrounding areas. If the height of Almatti was increased, not a single drop of water would be available from Krishna river, he said.

Raising objection for changing the design of Pranahita-Chevella project, Errabelli asked why Kantanpalli and Thotapalli reservoirs were cancelled. “Rs 4,500 crore have been spent on this project and how can the project get a national status if we change the design,” the TDP leader questioned.
