Hyderabad: A Royal Bengal tiger kept in the breeding enclosure gave the slip to watch and ward staff and wandered into the main area causing slight panic among visitors and authorities alike at the Nehru Zoological Park here on Saturday. The tiger named Kadamba jumped off a 10-feet deep moat, when it was being shifted to another enclosure, creating a scare among visitors.

It may be noted that in 2013, Suzi a 21–year-old chimpanzee bolted out of her enclosure and injured three workers of the zoo. The authorities heaved a sigh of relief as the tiger was tranquilised before it could cause any harm. The tiger was kept in an off display area (visitors are prohibited to enter into the area), which is 50 yards away from the main enclosures.

Animals are housed for treatment and research. The zoo authorities said that the zoo would be open tomorrow and there is no need to panic. The zoo authorities ordered an enquiry into the incident. The NZP is one of the largest in the country spreading over 380 acres.
