Communalisation of education
Calls on students to fight against the conspiracy to destroy the secular fabric of country
Hyderabad: The CPI (M) General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member Sitaram Yechury here on Thursday urged the student community to fight against the RSS ideologying being inducted into the education sector by the BJP government.
Delivering a talk on “Communalisation of education and State’s attack on campus democracy,” organised by Students’ Federation of India (SFI) at DST Auditorium in University of Hyderabad here, the Yechury said the BJP government was bent upon propagating Hindu mythology instead of teaching history and turning philosophy into theology.
“This is a highly dangerous thing in the country. It has to be recongised and we should all of us should fight it against it,” he said. Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, the government was patronising ideology of the RSS. It meant conversion of secular democratic India into RSS vision of Hindu Rashtra.
“In fact our Prime Minister credited the creation of Ganesh with the super power of our plastic surgeons in ancient India. The Prime Minister said ancient India had all this knowledge and wisdom. Modi alleged that it was the invaders who destroyed the culture in the country,” he said.
He further said India was rich in diversity. Instead of celebrating the diversity, the BJP was trying to thrust Hindu rashtra on the country. Yechury said it was important for the RSS to communalise higher education. He urged the students to fight against it to uphold secular fabric of the country. He said the communal elements were launching attack on democratic rights of the institutions.
He accused the powers that be of promoting private education because private educational institutions would not promote debate on important issues. It was part of the communal agenda being advanced by vested interests, he said. Social justice would given go-by if privatisation was carried out, he said. Yechury launched the website of SFI University of Hyderabad unit on the occasion.
