G Kishan ReddyHyderabad: Telangana State BJP president G Kishan Reddy on Saturday alleged that there was agrarian crisis in the State as the TRS government was not addressing the problems of farmers. Speaking to mediapersons, Kishan Reddy demanded that the State government immediately take measures to mitigate the problems of farmers who were committing suicides unable to bear the debt burden.

"The government should come forward to help them. Due to the callous attitude of the TRS government, over 1,000 farmers have committed suicide. But the government figures say only 409 ended their lives. During the last three days, 23 debt-ridden farmers have committed suicide in the State," the BJP leader informed.

Medak district recorded highest number of farmers suicides, he said. The BJP would organise 'Rythu Deeksha' in Nizamabad on September , and in Hyderabad on September 8, he said. Demanding a probe by high-level committee into problems of farmers and study the drought situation, he said the government should evolve a strategy to meet the needs of farmers in drought-affected areas.

Referring to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s visit to Telangana, Kishan Reddy alleged that the State government was preventing the visits of Union Ministers to the State. He said KCR had informed the Centre that he was busy and would be unable to accompany the Union Minister,

who was to lay the foundation for a highway costing of Rs 1,900 crore between Yadadri and Warangal. In view of the State government’s letter, the visit of Gadkari has been postponed and the ceremony was also kept pending. He asked KCR whether it was his strategy in view of the Warangal bye-elections.
