The TS government on Friday issued an executive order stating that the Governor will no longer play any role in the Telangana state universities. The Governor has been stripped off the chancellorship of universities along with the power to appoint vice-chancellor of varsities.

The TS government on Friday issued an executive order stating that the Governor will no longer play any role in the Telangana state universities. The Governor has been stripped off the chancellorship of universities along with the power to appoint vice-chancellor of varsities.


The chancellors to all varsities and choosing vice-chancellors will be done by the government which modified the legislation pertaining to all varsities in the state.


The AP Universities Act has been modified including the Osmania University, Telangana, Kakatiya, Palamuru, Mahatma Gandhi and Satavahana universities. Also, the JNTU Act, Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University Act, Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University Act, Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies Act and B.R. Ambedkar Open University Act are also covered.
