Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set launch Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste recycling plant at Borabanda from Monday.
The civic body has entered into a 10-year agreement with a Delhi-based firm MSW to set up the C&D plant. The plant will have the capacity to process 500 metric tonnes of construction waste daily and would produce concrete items.
This is the second C&D waste recycling plant in the country, the first being at Burari in northeast Delhi. The construction debris, which is produced across the city, would be dumped at Borabanda C&D plant where it would be recycled for producing bricks, tiles, concrete blocks and so on.
GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar told The Hans India that the C&D plant would begin its operations from Monday. Currently, the city has been producing about 400 hundred metric tonnes of debris every day.
