Khammam: Heavy spell of rains in neighbouring Chhattisgarh increased water level in the Thaliperu reservoir of Charla mandal to its full capacity in Khammam district on Sunday.

The heavy inflow of flood water is added to the Thaliperu reservoir from Rettantha wagu which is over flowing with water reaching to danger level. By maintaining the water level to its capacity in the reservoir, the officials had released the excess inflow of flood water, about 19,000 cusecs by lifting 16 gates.

Wyra reservoir The heavy inflow of flood water to the Wyra reservoir had increased the water level to 17.9 feet by Sunday afternoon. Due to heavy spell of rains in Telangana for the past few days the flood water is added to the reservoir more than the expected. The maximum capacity of the reservoir is 18.4 feet. About 20,000 acres of land is cultivated under the reservoir.

Since the reservoir is filled with water to its full capacity the farmers are expressing their joy. At Bhadrachalam The water level in the Godavari reached to 38 feet due to heavy inflow of water. Since the flow of water is decreased from Pranahita and Indravathi rivers into the Godavari River, the officials are expecting the decrease of water level in Godavari by Sunday night.

In Mulkalapalli Due to heavy spell of rains in Mulakalpalli mandal, Murredu wagu, Palmileru wagu and Saki wagu are overflowing with water. Due to which the vehicular traffic in the surrounding 30 villages has been interrupted. The water is flowing about six feet height on the causeway of Chikupalli village of Wazed mandal. Due to which the vehicular traffic in the surrounding 25 villages has been interrupted.
