Board member Manga Reddy accuses Sarath Kumar of misbehaving with her

Hyderabad: A woman Censor Board member and her friend allegedly attacked a filmmaker at his residence in Banjara Hills on Thursday night. The Banjara Hills police summoned the accused woman to appear for questioning by Sunday.

Censor Board member V Manga Reddy, accompanied by her friend Kishan, allegedly attacked filmmaker Sarath Kumar at his house at Srinagar Colony late in the night on Thursday. Manga Reddy (37) is a fashion designer also.

According to sources, Sarath Kumar and Manga Reddy exchanged messages on mobile phone earlier. Later, Manga Reddy reportedly sought the help of her friend to go to the filmmaker’s house.

Following a brawl between them, Manga Reddy and Kishan allegedly assaulted Sarath Kumar with iron rods. The filmmaker suffered head injuries in the attack.

He reported the incident to the Police Control Room. The accused fled the scene before the police arrived. The Banjara Hills police recorded the statement of Sarath Kumar.

The police also recovered two iron rods from the scene of the offence and collected blood and hair samples of the accused and sent them to Forensic Laboratory for examination.

A case was booked against Manga Reddy and Kishan under Section 324 and Section 448 of IPC. Meanwhile, Manga Reddy accused Sarath Kumar of misbehaving with her. “On Thursday night, Sarath Kumar sent abusive messages to me.

I and my friend went to filmmaker’s place to warn him. He abused me at his home and he tried to tear up my dress. In retaliation, a scuffle broke out place between us and Sarath fell on the air cooler and suffered head injury.

He is not my enemy, but we wanted to warn him not to talk and text to me,” accused Manga Reddy told media.
