Opposition leaders accuse TRS government of denying rights of Palakurthi MLA

Hyderabad: With the Jangaon Criminal Court in Warangal district on Monday granting bail to TDP floor leader in Telangana Assembly Errabelli Dayakar Rao and his 20 supporters, the Assembly is likely to witness fireworks over the issue. Earlier, the court remanded him to 14-day judicial custody in connection with a clash between the TRS and the TDP leaders in Palakurthi on Sunday.

The fight between the two parties resulted on protocol issue during foundation laying ceremony of a market godown in Palakurthi. Both resorted to stone pelting at each other in which 15 persons were injured. Dayakar spent Sunday night in the Bachannapet police station after the police took him into custody. On Monday, the police produced Errabelli in the Jangaon Court, which remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.

On moving a bail petition immediately, the court granted him bail. Reacting to the arrest of Rao, the TPCC working president Bhatti Vikramarka condemned the arrest. Questioning the rationale behind the arrest, Bhatti said the ruling party framed false cases against Rao. The government was stifling the voices of Opposition by framing false cases, in an undemocratic fashion, he said.

Bhatti said Rao hailed from Warangal district and he had every right to question violation of protocol in his own constituency. However, the TRS government was trying to suppress his rights as an MLA by violating the protocol. He also accused the bureaucrats and police officials of acting like TRS agents. BJP floor leader in Assembly K Lakshman accused the TRS government of intimidating the leaders of Opposition parties by registering false cases against them.

Lakshman condemned the case which was registered against Rao. He said that Errabelli was the TDP floor leader and by registering a case against him, the TRS government was trying to suppress opposition's voice in the House. He also accused the TRS government of ignoring the deliberate violation of protocol. Lakshman said that the State government had been trying to play mind games against Opposition parties while using police as its tool.
