Hyderabad: In order to provide adequate succor to the distressed farmers in the drought-hit mandals of the State, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has informed that an all-party delegation would meet the Central government officials and press them for a change in the policy matters.

During his reply to the two-day discussion on farmers’ issues in the State Assembly, KCR on Wednesday said the TRS government would embrace scientific approach to protect the interests of ryots.

He added that the suicides problem was prevailing in the entire country and his government would sort out the issue through a plan of action.

Trying to allay fears of the farmers, the Chief Minister said they have taken a decision to waive off all crop loans from June 2, 2014 and there was a need for collective efforts to root out the main cause of the issue.

Stating that there was need to fill up the vacant posts at Agriculture University for further research, he said the TRS government was extra cautious to bridge the gap to ensure that scientific methods of farm practices reached the farmers through timely suggestions from experts and extension offices.

“Government cannot resolve the six-decade long-pending problems overnight. In three-and-a-half years we will spend a total of RS 75,000 crore, every year Rs 25,000, to complete Palamur, Dindi, Kalwakurthy and 25 ongoing irrigation projects,” he informed.

‘Together we will come up with a solution to address the needs of irrigation and agriculture,” he said charging that the earlier rulers looted and deprived the Telangana region of all resources for many decades.

He also said they would urge the Centre with details of about 200 drought-hit mandals.Telangana Land Tenancy Act that offers five years of ownership would be implemented with strict measures, he said adding that they would focus on land tenants problem.
