Hyderabad: The international and local students of English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) were in for rude shock as the police personnel entered the Amrita Pritam International Hostel for Women.

The incident happened late on Friday night when university officials allegedly had roped in police to search for a man who entered the international women’s hostel. However, the students said the police could not find man roaming in the hostel.

According to the students, two male cops entered the hostel along with the hostel supervisor Gohartaj Beguman and Chief Security Officer Mahender.

The students questioned that despite presence of heavy security surveillance systems and university security personnel, why the police were called in for search. The hostel inmates lamented that they were frightened to see presence of male cops inside their hostel.

“When we asked how male cops were allowed inside the women’s hostel, they replied that there were no female cops in the police station,” said a student on condition of anonymity.

“What is more obvious in this incident is that when there are so many security guards and CCTV cameras inside campus for the so called security of the students.

They had to call police for finding out who entered where. This is the result of university’s administration incapability and their usual habit of calling police for even small incidents,” a PhD Scholar said.

The police were called to curtail students protest on the campus against administration but not search for man in the hostel, the students said.

“The Chief Executive Officer evaded all our questions and was moving in and around the CCTV camera so that it will capture evidence,” said a PG student.
