Even as all political parties are making all efforts to gain their upper hand in the prestigious by byelection to Warangal Lok Sabha constituency, scheduled to be held on November 21, the YSR Congress Party is unable to identify a candidate to contest on its behalf. In nutshell, there are no takers for the party ticket.
The party’s Telangana unit has been holding series of meetings for the last one week, but failed to come to a conclusion in identifying even a single candidate.
Hyderabad: Even as all political parties are making all efforts to gain their upper hand in the prestigious by byelection to Warangal Lok Sabha constituency, scheduled to be held on November 21, the YSR Congress Party is unable to identify a candidate to contest on its behalf. In nutshell, there are no takers for the party ticket.
The YSR Congress Party leaders, who claimed that the party has strong, following in Telagnana State too, could not so far find a candidate who is willing to contest on the party ticket. The party’s Telangana unit, has been holding series of meetings for the last one week, but failed to come to a conclusion in identifying even a single candidate.
Initially, the party’s Scheduled Caste Cell President Nalla Suryaprakash name was proposed in the first meeting held by the party President and MP P Srinivasa Reddy at the party central office in the city recently. Suryaprakah, however, is reluctant to contest as he is an outsider.
On the instructions of the party President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, party leaders rushed to Warangal on Sunday and held a meeting with the district leaders, but failed to arrive at a decision. If nobody comes forward to contest the election before the last date to file nominations on November 4, the party leaders said the only option before the party is to support like -minded political party in the election.
