Hyderabad: Justice PV Sanjay Kumar of the High Court at Hyderabad on Monday faulted the police commissioner for alleged involvement in a civil dispute.

Directing the police to extend protection when needed to a senior citizen Fatima Sultana and another, the judge said that the court hoped that the police officers knew their limitations while dealing with civil disputes.

According to the petitioner, there has been a long ongoing civil dispute between one Vinod Gupta and Bugga Infrastructure over a property of about nearly 2 acre of land near Novotel Hotel at Hitec City.

The petitioner alleged complicity of the concerned Police Commissioner and the Station House Officer, Madhapur under Cyberabad Police Commissionerate in supporting goonda elements. The petitioner pointed out that even when they had photographic proof of over 200 men interfering with the women and threatening disposition, the police refused to act.

In fact, they said, that the police on the other hand threatened the petitioner that if they failed to vacate the prime property, their lives would be in jeopardy. The judge made clear that police protection will be extended if requested in word, writing or telephone.
