Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy of the High Court at Hyderabad on Monday adjourned by a week a petition questioning alleged illegal constructions on a plot owned family members of K P Vivekananda, the MLA of Qutubullapur constituency.

The judge was dealing with a petition filed by KM Pratap, a resident of Qutubullapur complaining that the MLA and his family members have constructed a commercial structure in the said area adjacent to his plot without permissions from the GHMC.

He further complained that they had also encroached a part of the public road and evaded Rs 60 lakh fee to the GHMC and leased the said building to a corporate college.

Justice Nagarjuna Reddy questioned the counsel of the GHMC as to how authorities allowed the construction without permission.

“Is it proper for a public representative to indulge in blatant violations of law?” the judge pointedly asked.

Manohar Reddy, counsel for the MLA said that the petition was moved against his client with political motives and urged the court to grant time to file a counter affidavit explaining the situation. The judge directed the officials of the GHMC to spell out the steps being initiated against the family members of the MLA and adjourned the case.
