Hyderabad: A two judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip Bhosale and Justice S V Bhatt on Thursday gave two weeks time to the government to come up with an action plan on the question of setting up a panel receiving recommendations and dealing with the challenge of the ever increasing pollution to the Hussain Sagar lake and with special reference to the Ganesh immersion.

The bench is dealing with a contempt case filed by Mamidi Venugopal, seeking an order prohibiting immersions of all types of idols made with plaster of paris or clay in Hussain Sagar Lake to protect the lake from pollution. The petitioner complained that though there were orders by the court to ensure against such occurrence yet the civic authorities were not taking any prohibitive action.
