Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has embarked on operation unearthing the illegal assets of about 25 police officers of Deputy Superintendent rank across the State.

According to sources, senior officers in ACB have prepared dossier on the corrupt practices of the police officers. The ACB has in its possession the list of properties of 25 police officers. “We are waiting for an opportune time to nail corrupt officers,” said the source in the ACB.

During the raids on the house of Jangoan DSP K Surender, the police unearthed property worth over Rs 2 crore registered on his name and of his relatives, according to officials. As for the raid on the residence of Assistant Commissioner of Police N Sanjeev Rao, the ACB officers made extensive study of the officer’s lifestyle before pinning him down. The ACB did background investigation and conducted the raid after securing clinching evidence, the officials said.

An officer of ACB said that there were more police officers under scanner and ACB would not spare “corrupt officers.” “Many could start transferring their illicit assets either in the name of the relatives or others. But, we do not leave them,” an officer said. Meanwhile, soon after the ACB arrested Kukatpally ACB Sanjeev Rao, victims from across the State approached the officials to give their statements.

The ACB arrested Sanjeev Rao on Saturday for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The officials said assets worth Rs 13 crore belonging to Sanjeev Rao was unearthed. On Sunday, some of the victims of the ACP from Cyberabad approached the ACB officials to give their statements against Sanjeev Rao.
