The National Population Register updating with the house-to-house listing by linking with the Aadhaar card data will begin on Monday and end on December 15. To provide the data, people need to keep the documents - Aadhaar card/ EID acknowledgement, driving licence, EPIC, ration card or any government-approved identity card and their mobile number.

As per the instructions sent by the Centre to the district collectors, the National Population Register would be updated based on the Census 2011. The Census data would be cross-checked as per the additions and deletions made in the NPR in every household.

Meanwhile, Teachers associations are looking for exclusion from the exercise over the reason that several working days would be lost particularly when the government schools are lagging behind in syllabus coverage due to the text books supply delay this year. Nearly 70 percent of the 1.15 lakh government teachers are assigned to the enumeration duties.

President of TS-UTF, Mr A Narsi Reddy said that nearly 40 days classes were disrupted in government schools due to the teacher transfer process this year and there have been 30 holidays since June. He further added that it is not possible for them to do the NPR duties even though officials have asked them to resume the work after school hours.

PRTU-TS president A Sarotham Reddy stated that the text books supply delay has affected the students a lot and some schools are to receive textbooks though half the school year is over. He said that the NPR duties for the teachers would further affect the students.
