The Hyderabad High Court has directed the AP Government to appoint state election commissioner (SEC) immediately with Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy giving the direction after hearing a petition by Raavi Madhava Rao and four others from East Godavari district.

The petitioners questioned the lack of action from the government in conducting elections to Yetapaka mandal and complained that the elections for the posts of president and vice-president were not held even though the new mandal body was elected 18 months ago.
