Hyderabad: As the din over the Warangal Lok Sabha by-election has come to an end, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is now focussing its attention on the GHMC polls.

The TRS is planning to adopt the same strategy which it had adopted for the Warangal by-election campaign. According to sources, it wants to delegate certain wards to each of the ministers with city ministers playing an important role in the campaign. Sources in the GHMC said the government was also proposing to name a BC candidate as its nominee for the post of mayor. It feels that with the help of MIM, it would easily win the indirect election.

According to the GHMC officials, as part of pre-election process, they have enumerated the BC voters and found out that there are about 26 per cent of total voters. Meanwhile, the corporation has identified 37,81,925 male voters, 32,85,575 female voters and 995 third gender voters in the GHMC limits.

After identifying 26 per cent BC voters, the State earlier this week released a GO, in which it asked the civic body to issue ward-wise draft publication of BC voters on November 26 at all circles and MRO and MDO offices in the GHMC limits. The corporation would make an official announcement on the status of BC reservation only after issuing the draft publication, GHMC sources said.
