Indoor stadium dedicated to Prof Jayashankar
Minister for Excise, T Padma Rao on Friday inaugurated an indoor stadium which was named after Professor Jayashankar at Lalapet in Secunderabad. The stadium was constructed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) at an estimated cost of Rs 3.80 crore.

Hyderabad: Minister for Excise, T Padma Rao on Friday inaugurated an indoor stadium which was named after Professor Jayashankar at Lalapet in Secunderabad. The stadium was constructed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) at an estimated cost of Rs 3.80 crore. Speaking on the occasion, Padma Rao said that the State is also planning to install an eight feet statue of the professor as a token of gratitude.
Minister for Home, Naini Narasimha Reddy, who was the chief guest, said that the State along with the GHMC is planning to construct about 200 community halls in the city limits to make Hyderabad a world-class city. He added that the Telangana government is coming up with many innovative schemes to provide jobs to thousands of unemployed youth.
GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy, who was present at the inauguration, said that the civic body has been taking all necessary steps to provide basic sports needs to citizens and to also increase the stadium visiting hours for its better utilisation. The commissioner added that the civic body has also provided drinking water facilities and greenery in the indoor stadium.
