Karimnagar: ‘Bathukamma’, a new paddy variety seed, developed by the Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS), Polasa of Jagtial mandal, is attracting the farming community.

Farmers from different parts of the State and adjacent AP are visiting the research station to purchase the seed variety to cultivate their lands in the present Rabi season.

The RARS scientists have developed ‘JGL 18047’ variety paddy seed and named ‘Bathukamma’ after the most favourite traditional festival of Telangana.

The seed was released in Hyderabad recently. Farmers found two advantages with the new variety. One to get 8 to 10 per cent more yield from this seed and another less dropping of grains, Research Station scientists said.
